If it’s a linear stationary problem I suggest first checking that there are sufficient boundary conditions. If it is a nonlinear problem I suggest reducing the severity of nonlinearities by applying loads more gradually. COMSOL has over 10 variants of a very basic “Bracket” model that they use to illustrate solid mechanics analysis features such as plasticity, contact, buckling, etc. I suggest working through a couple of these models first.
